Saltusio is the southern most town of the Passeier Valley and is located 500 meters above sea level, just 10 km from Merano. The central position of the town, just a few steps from the modern ski lift that leads to the Hirzer/Matterhorn Mountain excursionist area of great tourist importance – ideal for your holidays in the Passeier Valley.
There are very many different possibilities to do sports activities in Saltusio. There are 3 tennis clay courts, a football field, paragliding, even in tandem, jogging paths, bike riding (mountain and road bikes), Nordic walking, rafting, fishing and obviously walking. The famous 18-hole Passiria golf course is just 7 kilometres away.
The new church of Saltusio was inaugurated in 2007. Together with the adjoining new fire brigade building and the musical band house, it is a collection of ancient and modern architecture, appreciated by many, but criticised by others. In summary, you could say: the small town that was unobtrusive in the past has evolved over the years through the exemplary cohesion of its inhabitants, which have earned respect and an excellent reputation within South Tyrol.
